IB MYP Design Criterion A Strand ii Explained
A ii. constructs a detailed research plan, which identifies and prioritizes the primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem independently
Create a long list of research topics - then change these ideas into research questions using the MYP command terms - think about what data and information will be needed to be collected so that you can make a solution to the problem outline in AI
Identify a variety of places to find answers and collect data (primary, secondary, qualitative and quantitative research)
Consider that you have to solve this problem without your teacher's help - what do you need to know and where would you find it?
Prioritise HIGH - MEDIUM - LOW and add "because" to justify your classification
Organise and present your research plan (consider visual ways to communicate - tables, flow charts, outlines, mind maps, etc.)
N.B. this is a research plan... not actual research
Criterion A Strand ii Assessment
0 ~ student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors
3-4 ~ outlines a research plan, which identifies primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem, with some guidance
5-6 ~ constructs a research plan, which identifies and prioritizes primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem, with some guidance
7-8 ~ constructs a detailed research plan, which identifies and prioritizes the primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem independently
Criterion A Strand ii Differentiation
The student (outlines a --> constructs a --> constructs a detailed) research plan, which identifies primary and secondary research needed to develop a solution to the problem, (with some guidance -->independently)
